Speech Technology Group: Text-to-Speech Demo for Spanish (concatenative)

New !!!

For application developers !
Do you want to add speech synthesis in Spanish to your application ?
Now you can use ours !!!

We provide a DLL easy to use, for Windows 95 and NT using a standard audio device.

This DLL is working in a commercial CD-ROM called QuickMagic, featuring a magician. You can check it at: QuickMagic.

For more information, please contact <cordoba@die.upm.es>.
An engine compatible with the Microsoft Speech API is under development.

Now, we also have examples of synthesis with a female voice!

Take into account that the original generation is done using 16 bits signed samples at 16 KHz. Speech quality may be degraded if you use formats with less resolution.
Unfortunately, we are not able to check every file format (just Sun AU (8 KHz), raw data and Wavs up today), so please, let us know if you are unable to get them sound properly. Select format you want:

Raw data was generated in a SUN-4 architecture (big-endian). If your system is little-endian and you chose raw data format, select yes below:
Yes, swap bytes. No, don't.

You can receive the audio file directly or through a page in which you can choose the plain file or a compressed version:
Direct audio file. Through a page.

Enter your utterance and remember it must be written in Spanish, otherwise, you will get an odd-sounding phrase. You can use any symbol of the Spanish alphabet, provided you use iso-8859 encoding (acentuated vowels (áéíóú), ñ, both in upper and lower case, special punctuation marks (¿¡), etc.):

You can see additional samples of our klatt-based and concatenative-based text-to-speech systems for Spanish.
